Fairoaks Shinto

Born August 15, 2012

ASCA/AKC Registered

Registered Name: Fairoaks Shinto

Call Name: Shinto

|| NOT AVAILABLE ||

"Fairoaks Shinto" is an ASCA/AKC Registered Red Bi Australian Shepherd and is 22” tall, weighing anywhere from 48 to 57 lbs depending on the season and his chores.

Shinto has perfect conformation, he has a phenomenal head on him, blocky and square, yet he is in perfect line with his foundation bloodlines and is more streamlined, having a squared off muzzle that tapers gorgeously with a perfect ear set... He is a very big boy. His movement is determined all while being seemingly effortless.

In regards to Shinto's conformation, he is very angular, while being thick bodied and very muscular.  He is stunning. His movement is solid, bold and still graceful and in the home while just relaxing this doesn’t change, but his stride is shorter and he is usually aiming for my feet or lap as a bed.

Shinto may join his son, Los and be shown in the fall of 2017 in ASCA shows.  The season that I start to show him depends on schedules, it is possible for him to start in the winter of 2017.

He is FULLY health tested and clear of every genetic defect/mutation that is currently testable for this incredible breed.

Shinto was raised in a kennel (as many dogs are!)... He came into my home quite some time ago and has fit in beautifully from the start... He is extremely well rounded and is the perfect in-home companion, he is so intelligent that it took him all of 1 day to adjust to being an indoor dog.

Shinto is a true family dog.  Shinto is tireless when working and is a wonderful playmate outdoors.

We are still working on his patience with livestock (he dives right in at times) but other than that his training has been going flawlessly.  He is equally a head/heel dog and naturally knows the difference between moving a lamb and moving adult sheep.  I am extremely proud of him and expect greater and greater things from him, his potential is limitless.

Shinto has an extremely high drive in the paddocks, pastures and open land yet he is extremely mellow in personality in the home… and he never leaves my side.  This combination is a stunning example of the multifaceted qualities that Aussies should hold naturally.

He is brilliant, fun, dedicated and is always eager to learn new commands, take on new tasks and to automatically transform into a lap dog when it is time for relaxing inside.

Shinto’s current favorite activities include loving his humans, working/training on livestock, playing any game (mental problem solving or physical), strutting his stuff in public after he gets through another lesson in why the truck is not evil and just enjoys being at my side and pleasing me.

Shinto is careful of whom he approaches, but is very social as soon as I say hello to someone.  This is something that I love, he is thoughtful and always observant.

I am extremely excited for his future.

Fairoaks Shinto has a lineage that is 99% Fairoaks, with plenty of HOF and WTCH accomplishments in his bloodlines including HOF CH Chulo Rojo of Fairoaks and Fairoaks Atreyu.

The puppies out of him are going to be a superb fit for anyone… personal or family companion, working dog, competitor (show or trials), tennis ball/frisbee/hiking fanatic, etc.

I will add more photos of Shinto soon, for now please enjopy these photos of him taken by Sandy Cornwell of Fairoaks!

Fairoaks Buffalo Soldier at Lilac & Lace Cattle Co.

Born 01/09/2016

ASCA/AKC Registered

Registered Name: Fairoaks Buffalo Soldier at Lilac & Lace Cattle Co.

Call Name: Los

|| NOT AVAILABLE ||

"Fairoaks Buffalo Soldier" is an ASCA/AKC Registered Black Tri Australian Shepherd and is quite the large boy already... I am expecting him to mature at 22" and to weigh at least 65 lbs.

Los has impeccable conformation, he is angular, perfectly proportioned with a gorgeous head and ear set on him.  He is stunning. I am so very excited to raise this special boy.  His movement is in its puppyhood but is effortless, solid, determined, fluid and has adorable fun giant puppy paw moments that melt my heart.

Los is starting to be shown in the fall of 2017 in ASCA shows and will most likely start his trialing at that time.  The season that I start to trial him depends on schedules, it is possible for him to start trials in the winter.

Los currently enjoys the task of being a puppy, giving and receiving affection, regular obedience training and managing the fowl on a daily basis… some days it is a simple job of keeping the 70 ducks from coming up to the house as well as getting them penned up for the evening in one of three fenced areas and some days he is responsible for driving the ducks to and from the pond on the property.  He is doing very well working individually and in teams. The areas surrounding the pond have yet to be cleared and many times Los has to work out of my line of sight.  He is an extremely determined and intelligent boy.  I trust him fully.  We are still working on his reaction time when I tell him "that’ll do” and each day he responds quicker and returns to my side in acceptance that his task is over.  The hesitation is not long, perhaps 30 seconds… but when you have livestock where you want them, 30 seconds of continued pushing, driving or herding can make a large difference.  I am extremely proud of him.  He has started to train on the Katahdin sheep as well… I look forward to watching him learn and accomplish everything that he sets out to do.  In the spring of 2017 he will be put on cattle here and I am very excited!

Los has endless potential, the sky is the limit for this boy.  I am humbled, grateful and honored to have him.  The founder of the Fairoaks Hall of Fame kennel, Sandy Cornwell is incredible, dedicated, more knowledgable than one can imagine and I admire her greatly.  She is a role model to me.  Talking with Sandy is an opportunity for anyone to learn more about Australian Shepherds in an hour than is possible with two weeks of intense research dedicated to the same task.  She is a fountain of information and her ideas, goals and accomplishments are so in tune with my own thoughts that owning Los is more than a pleasure and an honor to have in my life,

he in himself is an experience that is a privilege that will never be taken for granted.

Los is stellar.  He is going to be the sire here at Lilac & Lace Cattle Co. upon maturity and I take great pride in this.

He is so very sweet and loves a job to do.  I absolutely love this boy and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for him as he is set up for success through the many years to come… in his family life with my son, myself and the Aussies, in the show ring, in real life work situations and in competitions.

Lilac & Lace Cattle Co.'s Button Up That Goose

Born February 28, 2012

ASCA/AKC Registered

Registered Name: Lilac & Lace Cattle Co.'s Button Up That Goose

Call Name: Button and Mr. Goose

|| NOT AVAILABLE ||

"Button Up That Goose" is an ASCA/AKC Registered Standard Blue Eyed Black Tri (Red Factored) Australian Shepherd and is 23" tall, weighing anywhere from 55 lbs to 60 lbs depending on the season and his chores.

Button has beautiful conformation, he has a phenomenal head on him, blocky and square with a balanced muzzle and deliciously beautiful ear set... He is a very big boned boy. His movement is striking, fluid and effortless.

He is FULLY health tested and clear of every genetic defect/mutation that is currently testable for this incredible breed.

Button is your true family companion, a fantastic co-worker at my farm, an eager student with a very high drive and your typical "Velcro Dog" always staying at my side, he is one of the most intelligent Aussies that I have ever been graced of owning and loving… unmatched in his problem solving capabilities.

His favorite activities include sitting on me, herding goats and sheep, sitting on his boy (my son), prancing around the house with some type of toy to show off to us that he has impeccable taste (they are usually my son’s most valued stuffed animals), he absolutely is happiest running through the tall wild grasses on a few of the acres here that we let grow wild for the beautiful flowers that come in the summer with my son and I... we mow paths this way and that, so my son can follow him and Button has been known to nap under one of the many apple trees and treat himself to a fallen apple or two… smiling the whole way.

Button produces larger, big boned puppies and they have all had extremely impressive conformation.  He has won first place (best in breed, best in class) in a few shows and I look forward to taking him on to the next level in AKC and ASCA shows. His puppies have proven to have the same high drive as he has, which surely can be accredited to his lineage that goes back to Briarbrook, Ashlawn, Hall Tree, Country Woods, Northbay and Las Rocosas lines... His Las Racosas lineage traced as far back as Las Rocosas Little Wolf. The puppies are so very well rounded and really could go in any direction… companion, ranch dog, competitor, tennis ball fanatic, etc.

A litter sired by Button arrived on January 20th 2017!!!

This is a much anticipated repeat breeding with Little Oakley Joe.

Lilac & Lace Cattle Co.'s Button Up That Goose has sired his last litter as of 01/20/2017 and is retiring, he may not love the process of retiring but I know he will love not being separated from the girls when they are in season!  We are excited to have our boy enjoy his retirement and to continue his life as our beloved companion and to continue his career working by my side outdoors on the livestock.

Please view the "Most Recent Litter" page to look at their stunning puppies!

Lilac & Lace Cattle Co.'s "Razor Sharp Excalibur"

06/28/2013 - 02/08/2016

Registered Name: Razor Sharp Excalibur

Call Name: Cal

"Razor Sharp Excalibur" is an ASCA Registered Blue Merle Australian Shepherd and is 23" tall, weighing anywhere from 58 lbs to 63 lbs depending on the season and his chores.

Cal has perfect conformation, he has a phenomenal head on him, blocky and square, yet he is in perfect line with his foundation bloodlines and is more streamlined, having a squared off muzzle that tapers gorgeously with a perfect ear set... He is a very big boy. His movement is determined all while being seemingly effortless.

He is FULLY health tested and clear of every genetic defect/mutation that is currently testable for this incredible breed plus an additional test that is currently for Border Collies... in my research, I am preemtively starting to test my dogs for the additional test, just in case it starts showing up in Aussies down the road.

Cal came to me as a  juvenile, already fully trained on cattle.  I have kept him busy at our old farm on beef cattle and he is now working with me on Dexter Cattle and Dairy Goats at our new and beloved Heritage Homestead.

Cal was raised in a kennel (as many working dogs are)... He came into my home quite some time ago and has fit in beautifully from the start... He is extremely well rounded and is the perfect in-home companion, he is so intelligent that it took him all of 2 days to adjust to being an indoor dog.

Cal is a family dog.  Cal is a tireless cattle dog.

Cal has an extremely high drive and never leaves my side.

He is brilliant and his ability to independently solve a problem or puzzle together a situation all while making sure I am on board with what he is doing is uncanny.  Cal is always eager to learn new commands, take on new tasks and to automatically transform into a couch potato when it is time for relaxing inside.

Cal's favorite activities include loving his humans, working livestock, playing any game (mental problem solving or physical), strutting his stuff in public... again, he does not leave my side and I rarely leave home without him.

Cal has taken a fancy to my son Wolf as of late.... As my son becomes more boisterous, Cal follows suit... If my son sits to watch the grass grow, the snow fall or to allow the rain to tickle his face, Cal shadows him.  The reason I emphasize this growing bond with my son is that when Cal came to me, he was overly loyal to me (a trait I find appealing in a working dog) but was more aloof towards anyone else... thankfully this aloofness was not a character trait as it would be undesired, it was just that he was raised by one owner and it was what he was used to.

Cal loves e v e r y o n e.  And I could not be more pleased by this, especially from such strong working lines.

I am extremely excited to see the puppies that he produces with Rose for her last litter prior to her retirement... so is the manager of ASCA... I will be retaining a puppy for myself as the match will be impeccable in all aspects.

Razor Sharp Excalibur has a lineage that is loaded right up front with Hart II, countless Las Racosas lines, Ranch Hand and Hangin' Tree, with plenty of HOF and WTCH accomplishments in his bloodlines. The puppies out of him are going to be a superb fit for anyone… companion, ranch dog, competitor, tennis ball fanatic, etc.

Razor Sharp Excalibur x Redstar Rosebud Puppies were whelped on February 25th 2016

This litter holds Cal's Legacy.

It is precious and sacred to me beyond words.

My sweet and beloved Cal is no longer with us…

There was an accident with him and our cow on one very awful morning… on February 8th. Cal went in too hard and she returned fire, goring him in exactly the wrong spot, repeatedly and she was stomping. Button who normally does not get along with Cal (just as Cal butted heads with Button (but it was all just men being men stuff) was called in to help since I was unable to do so in this situation. Button is softer on cattle than Cal, he has no head drive and has only ever been a heel man, but he also barks enough to send a message and I'm very proud of him for putting “men being men” things aside and doing his job as a working dog and as a brother in arms. He gave Cal the only chance he could.

Cal was doing what he loved best, chasing and working cattle. It turned out tragic. As can always happen… not that knowing the possibility of it happening eases the pain when it does happen.

When we got Cal to the vet immediately, there was nothing that they could do other than take the pain away and set him free.

My Cal is now pain free…. he rested his beautiful head in my lap as we said goodbye... I almost could not leave the vet.  It took everything I had to drive home.

Cal is now chasing all the cattle in heaven with zero regard to limits or risk... He is free to be 100% head and no heel. He can eat all of the kitties that he wants to and he can charm the ladies of his choosing.

No harm can touch him now. His overeager yet phenomenally thought out approach can no longer bring him strife or injury.

We are not simply devastated. We were crushed and broken. It took me a while to bring myself to put this on the website as I just broke down every time I tried.

I didn’t know how to cope with this. I didn’t know what I would do without him… He was my baby, my right hand man. My everything. This may not be a hurdle that I can ever completely get over but we are taking it moment by moment and comforting each other. Or trying to at least.

I'm writing this to explain the situation in full, as I feel it is something that needs to be spoken, Cal deserves to be honored, he deserves to have this heart wrenching story told... And I think I needed to tell it, no matter how hard it is to do. It has taken forever to write this. My vision is blurred, my eyes swollen shut.

To my Cal, my hero, my best friend, my teacher, my hardcore working dog that loved us fiercely... We love you just as fiercely and will never have a day pass that you are not in our hearts.

Cal I love you. I wish you were here. I'm feeling empty, lost. I miss you.
